Senior Control Systems Engineer, Able-Baker Automation, Inc.
Responsible for the development and start-up of a cooling water system for a large computer center. Included Modicon Concept programming and a PanelMate operator interface.
Developed Control System wiring diagrams for a large metal recycling facility. Developed PanelView 1400e operator interface screens.
Senior Control Systems Engineer, CASI-Computer Aided Systems Inc.
Designed and programmed bar code scanner serial and PLC interfaces with HMI for a Windows NT application using Visual Basic with event based DDE and RSLinx software. Performed bar code scanner selection and testing. Responsible for multiple scanner hardware programming and installation. Developed PLC simulator and scanner Visual Basic test tools. Selected a DIO board and programmed digital I/O sensor interfaces. Maintained versions with MS Source Safe. Performed field testing and troubleshooting.
Automated Warehouse Facility for Clothing Manufacturer:
Designed sensor layouts for control workstations, conveyor merges, diverts and motors for an automated warehouse facility for a Clothing Manufacturer. Designed and programmed PC applications with HMI in C to control automated conveyor systems using the Borland C compiler. Developed test plans and performed field installation and verification testing of hardware and software. Responsible for developing and maintaining 10,000 lines of code at three sites. Maintained the low-level DIO embedded 8051 microprocessor EPROM based programs.
Senior Electronics Engineer, EG&G Energy Measurements (Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory)
Developed firing and heating/cooling control software using an 8051 microprocessor for the Laser Firing and Control System at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. Wrote C and assembly language applications using an Archimedes compiler for DOS. Evaluated the 80C51 family, A/D and D/A electronics and recommended processor and digital I/O changes. Developed a user interface/simulator tool, with high speed serial interface and protocol manager, to test the laser and perform customer demonstrations. Efforts resulted in reduced costs and time to completion. Software and hardware worked the first time and with sustained reliability.
Wrote C language demonstration software, repeatability and tools software to choreograph 6-axis arm motion and test arm accuracy. Used a Watcom C compiler on a QNX 4 OS. Reviewed 12-axis motion control system design and designed safety circuitry. Packaged ruggedized STD32 bus 486 computer and components into a modular control system.
Redesigned commercial 3-phase vacuum system motor control to replace existing, non-working design. Qualified and implemented motor, vacuum valve and vacuum gauge controllers in ruggedized packages. Developed all on short project schedules.
Developed high speed cathode ray tube (CRT) test, HIPOT and calibration machines with profile controller programs and high voltage analog control and monitoring circuitry. Incorporated ergonomic and safety features to increase safety and production. Developed environmental test, calibration, burn-in and operational procedures.
